Ghost Shark a stealthy ‘game-changer’ | Defence
As Anduril’s first Australian intern, I proudly contributed to Anduril, the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) and the Navy’s future AUV capabilities. Performing engineering tasks in design and development for subsea and robotic technologies. January - July 2023.
Seconded for six months as a full-time Anduril employee, I assisted in projects from the surrogate vehicles factory acceptance testing to preparing system-level delivery of the Navy's next-generation XL-AUV fleet. Mentored by experts in the field, I developed greater technical and leadership abilities and multi-asset teaming experiences to support all of ADF engineering as our most advanced uncrewed Submarines, Warships, Tanks, and Aircraft enter service.
Collaboratively, Anduril, DSTG and the Navy continue to sponsor me to practise as a junior mechatronic engineer as I work to fulfil the Engineers Australia and RAN mechatronic certification requirements.
Bachelor of Engineering (honours), including a Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice. Majoring in Mechatronic Engineering.
Through my undergraduate studies, I have demonstrated the ability to provide the Navy with capability while gaining valued experiences and technical skills in:
Proud to be a student leader in establishing the UTS Maker Society, where I served as the executive treasurer, demonstrating my commitment to innovation and collaborative learning across disciplines within the campus community.
HMAS Newcastle 2017 -2019
Fast Frigate Guided, Propulsion System Maintainer.
Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the main propulsion plant and associated machinery. I was required to manage and perform maintenance routines, including adjustment, calibration and conduct acceptance trials. Providing technical advice to Marine Engineering Management. Contributing to technical solutions, recording, researching and documentation for planned and unplanned maintenance. Participating in whole ship evolutions and performing leadership, guidance and mentoring roles when organising activities for others.
RAN Systems Program Office, FFG Warships 2015 -2017
Monitoring Program & Technical Support Officer
The FFG Enterprise is an extremely high-tempo and diverse production environment where decisions and actions are made promptly with accurate information and guidance from the input of all its members.
My role as the Technical Support Officer (TSO) was to provide technical advice and research assistance to both uniformed and APS members. I have shown competency to research and analyse data, providing informed advice and guidance, contributing to the success of the Team.
V8 SUPERCARS, Prodrive Racing 2014 - 2015
Selected for the Team Navy outplacement program with our industry partner Prodrive Racing. I performed the role of pit-stop mechanic for the entire 2015 V8 Supercars race season.
At the Prodrive Racing headquarters, I was a technician in the Castrol Engine Shop, this required my skills to carefully strip down, wash, crack test, record and assemble a catalogue of V8 Supercar engines following Supercars rules and guidelines. This also involved many engine projects through performance trials, development and safety control systems.
