I have an energetic personality and strongly believe in the Navy slogan:
The Team Works.
I am dedicated, eager to learn, ambitious, have a diligent work ethic, and find the most job satisfaction from problem-solving, diagnostics and seeing a project through to completion.
I have been described as optimistic and persistent. I enjoy learning and understanding how things work; I am passionate about performance engineering and innovation, and I aspire to a career that supports continuous learning in this area.
I aspire to engineer autonomous systems to relieve our people and families from long periods of separation, dangerous roles, and the rigours of combat by employing autonomous robotics systems and artificial intelligence (RAS-AI). Passionate to reduce our workforce's cognitive and physical load and redirect our human-required inputs and decision-making skills to more important effects.
With a history of making informed decisions in complex and high-pressure environments, I will leverage my previous Navy experiences and commitment towards a career of continuous planning and delivery of innovative capabilities. I aim to contribute my passion, technical skills, and new practices in the mechatronics profession to support the Navy RAS-AI campaign and invest in a future of innovation that meets the needs of our maritime domain and people.
In completing a selective application process, I secured a Royal Australian Navy (RAN) scholarship to undertake Mechatronic Engineering undergraduate studies full-time. Following a12-year career as a RAN specialist technician, contributing to active service and Navy in Industry outplacements. I was presented with the opportunity to enhance my effect on the organisation by committing to the academic and professional responsibilities of a Marine Engineer Officer.
I remain a full-time serving member, dedicating university breaks to Navy subsea robotics projects, shipbuilding and sustainment sectors to develop my experience as a professional engineer. Achieving the Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering satisfies my requirements for Commission to RAN Officer, with my aim to lead the next generation of Navy.
As a Leading Seaman Marine Technician in the Royal Australian Navy, I am both a supervisor and an experienced technician. I am relied upon to provide technical advice regarding the assessment and control of marine engineering equipment and perform the function of a trade supervisor in a military operational environment. With a core responsibility as a Subject Matter Expert technician in marine diesel engines and gas turbines with over ten years of experience in my field.
When in out-of-category roles, I am well-developed in research, investigative and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with a wide range of people in an integrated environment. I have expert knowledge in my role as a Marine Technician in a problem-solving capacity and in a team leader role. I have demonstrated technical competency in a military environment. I am now committed to changing the direction of my service towards achieving the academic requirements of a professional Engineer.
